Esedra 3 Seater Highback Sofa

Most outdoor sofas stop at the shoulder blades. The Esedra highback version does not — at 100 cm the back rises above the head of a seated person, which turns the sofa from a piece of furniture into something closer to an enclosure.

Luca Nichetto designed Esedra for Ethimo with reference to classical architecture, and the highback sofa is where that comes through most clearly: the curved woven back reads like a small exedra, the semicircular recess Greek and Roman builders used to create a sheltered place to sit and talk.

The frame is textured matt aluminium in Warmwhite or Dark Grey, wrapped in Natwick fibre in Sand Beige, available in a tight or a wide weave. The two weaves give noticeably different surfaces — the tight one more uniform, the wide one more openly graphic.

Cushions come in Acrylic Nature White or Acrylic Black Stone, with matching decorative cushions. At 191 cm and 53 kg the sofa has real presence, and it works best when placed where its back can be seen.
