Niche Beverly has brought the world’s finest furniture to Los Angeles since 2008. In 2022 we founded Melaaura, our sister design house and manufacturer, so the custom pieces we design with you are built by our own artisans, not an outside factory.
You work with our designers in the West Hollywood showroom. Melaaura’s workshops cut, weave, glaze and upholster every commission by hand, one piece at a time, then deliver it from the workshop to your door, wherever that is in the world.

Synthetic Outdoor Rattan
Designed to replicate the richness of natural weave, and built for outdoor performance. UV-resistant, weatherproof and virtually maintenance-free, it holds its structure and colour for years.

How do I begin the process of designing custom furniture?
Book a consultation with one of our designers, in the West Hollywood showroom or by phone. Bring measurements, photos of the room and any references you like, and we will guide you through design options, materials and how the piece needs to work day to day.
Can I choose the materials and finishes for my custom furniture?
Absolutely. You choose from our full library of woods, weaves, metals, stone and fabrics, and we send physical samples so you can decide in your own light. Customer’s own fabric is welcome too.
How long does it typically take to complete a custom furniture project?
Most commissions take 8 to 12 weeks in Melaaura’s workshops, plus delivery. Your designer confirms an exact timeline with your quote.
Is custom furniture cheaper or more expensive than mass-produced options?
It depends on the piece. Custom furniture is often better value over time: it is built precisely to your needs, from materials chosen to last, so it needs replacing far less often than mass-produced furniture.
Can I see examples of previous custom furniture projects?

Do custom furniture shops offer design consultations?
We do. Our designers work closely with you on material choices, style decisions and functional details, so your bespoke furniture reflects your taste and the way you live.
What is the difference between bespoke furniture and customized furniture?
Bespoke furniture is designed and made entirely to order from your specifications. Customized furniture starts from an existing design, such as a piece from the Melaaura collection, and changes its size, fabric or finish. We do both.
How do I ensure my custom furniture fits perfectly in my space?
Share accurate measurements, or let our team measure the space. Every piece is drawn to size in shop drawings and a 3D rendering, and nothing is built until you approve them.
Can custom furniture be designed to match my existing décor?
Yes. Custom furniture can be tailored in form, colour and finish to complement your current interior, so the whole room feels cohesive.
What types of wood are commonly used in custom furniture?
For outdoor pieces we work mainly in solid teak, prized for its strength and weather resistance. Indoors we use kiln-dried hardwoods such as oak and walnut, in natural, stained or lacquered finishes.
Do custom furniture makers offer warranties on their pieces?
Yes. Every piece made by Melaaura carries warranty coverage of up to 5 years, depending on the materials and construction.
Can Niche Beverly replicate a design from a photograph or existing piece?
We respect design copyrights, but we can create furniture inspired by your references. Many projects start from a photograph or a sketch, which we develop into a unique piece tailored to your style.
