Absolute is built on an argument between two things: an elliptical top that wants to float, and a base of solid, inclined volumes that plainly does not. The geometries intersect precisely, and the tension between them is the point.
The top is where the material does its work. Marble and the deeper, more compact stone finishes each read differently, the veining running freely across the ellipse, while the thin edge keeps the whole surface from looking heavy.
