Bliss Chair and Stool

Designed by BOATTO MARTINO studio for Atmosphera, the Bliss chair and stool is a piece that earns its place in any outdoor setting through the quiet intelligence of a single, defining contrast: the precision of a powder-coated aluminium frame set against the warm, tactile presence of a natural teak armrest. It is a detail that sounds simple and reads as effortless, and that is, in reality, the product of exactly the kind of considered material thinking that distinguishes design of genuine quality from design that merely looks the part.

The aluminium structure is clean, slender, and architecturally composed — its lines expressing the structural logic of the piece with the kind of restraint that allows the backrest’s gentle curvature to register as the design’s primary gesture rather than competing with it. That curve is subtle but purposeful: a soft arc that follows the natural form of the back, providing support and comfort without the visual weight of a fully upholstered piece, and lending the overall silhouette a warmth and approachability that purely geometric outdoor seating rarely achieves. The frame is available in two finishes — Gesso, a clean, chalky white that reads as quietly luminous in outdoor light, and Olive Green, a considered earthy tone that sits in natural harmony with garden and terrace settings, connecting the chair to the landscape around it rather than contrasting with it.

Against this aluminium structure, the natural teak armrest is the detail that makes the Bliss immediately memorable. Set horizontally across the top of each arm, the teak introduces a warmth, a weight, and a tactile quality that the aluminium alone could never provide — a material that invites touch in a way that metal does not, and that develops a richer, more characterful surface over time as the grain opens and the natural oils of the wood respond to outdoor conditions. It is a small gesture with a disproportionately large effect on the overall character of the piece, transforming what might otherwise be a well-designed but relatively neutral outdoor chair into something that feels genuinely specific and considered.

At L 64 cm × D 62 cm × H 76 cm with a seat height of 41 cm — rising to 45 cm with the optional cushion — the Bliss is proportioned for the dining context without being limited to it. Its dimensions are comfortable enough for an extended meal, refined enough for a terrace lounge arrangement, and compact enough to work across a wide range of outdoor settings without dominating them.
