Cord Lounge Chair

Cord is a study in two materials and nothing else: a satin stainless steel tube frame and polyester rope. There is no upholstery, no cushion structure, no secondary material — the rope is the seat.

Groundwork Studio specified AISI 316L stainless steel, the marine grade. That matters more than it sounds: 316L contains molybdenum, which is what allows it to resist salt corrosion. This is a chair that can sit on a coastal terrace or beside a chlorinated pool without pitting.

At 88 cm wide and 73 cm deep the lounge chair is generously proportioned, and the woven rope gives it something upholstery cannot — it breathes, it dries almost instantly after rain, and it flexes under weight so the seat conforms rather than resists.

The Cord collection also includes a dining chair, a dining table with porcelain top, and a chaise lounge, so the same rope-and-steel language can run across a full outdoor scheme.
