Coffee table PHILIA 900
The Philia coffee table by Roda is an FSC-certified teak outdoor piece designed by Rodolfo Dordoni. Its carabottino grating structure — borrowed from yacht design — doubles as both surface and support, sitting at 7 7/8\” high with a 45 1/4\” square footprint. Clean, considered, and built to last.
A Structure That Does More Than Hold Things Up
The Philia coffee table is built around a carabottino frame — the wooden grating traditionally found on yacht decks. It’s a detail that gives the piece an immediate sense of purpose. The structure isn’t decorative. It defines the whole object. And it connects directly to the broader Philia system, where the same logic runs from the coffee table through to the seating and double chaise longue.Designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, the proportions are deliberate. At 45 1/4\” square and just under 8\” high, it sits low and grounded. Nothing about it feels accidental.
Materials Built for the Outdoors
The frame is FSC-certified teak — sourced responsibly, and chosen because it handles sun, rain, and salt air without complaint. The feet are powder-coated stainless steel, finished in smoke, which keeps the base from looking too heavy against the teak grain.Depending on the configuration, the support belts come in Batyline or woven belt options, with a wide range of colors: Grey, Sand, Brown, Olive, Blue, Orange, Sky, Navy, and Ginger. Batyline in particular is a material that holds its color and structure well over time — it doesn’t sag or fade the way lesser outdoor materials do.
Part of a Bigger Conversation
The Philia table doesn’t work in isolation — and it’s not meant to. Within the Roda Philia system, the perimeter frame of the seating units also functions as a surface, so the coffee table extends that same idea outward. The whole collection is designed around moments of outdoor living: conversation, meals, long afternoons. The table fits into that naturally.

It’s also worth noting that the table’s low profile makes it comfortable to use alongside the reclinable backrests and armrests of the Philia seating. Everything is considered at the same height and rhythm.
Where It Belongs
This is outdoor furniture for terraces and gardens that are treated as real living spaces. Not afterthoughts. The Philia table suits a covered terrace with proper lounge seating just as well as an open garden setup. Its scale works for two people or a larger group without dominating the space. The teak will weather gracefully if left untreated, shifting to a silver-grey over time. Or it can be maintained to hold its warmer honey tone. Either way, it looks intentional.
Built to Stay
FSC-certified teak is one of the more durable hardwoods available for outdoor use. Combined with powder-coated stainless steel feet and Batyline or belt supports rated for outdoor conditions, the Philia table is built for years of use without significant maintenance. Roda’s approach here isn’t about trends. It’s about furniture that holds up — in quality and in appearance — season after season.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
