Planter BARRIQUE 102

The Barrique planter by Roda blends Iroko wood with handwound cord and belt detailing in a range of colors. Available in multiple sizes with narrow or wide slats, it brings artisan character to any outdoor setting.

A Different Kind of Planter

Most outdoor planters are purely functional. Barrique is not. Designed for Roda by UnPIZZO, it treats the planter as something worth looking at — a decorative object that also happens to hold your plants. The wood slats, the wrapped cord, the belts: everything is considered. Nothing is accidental.

Materials and Construction

The structure is built from Iroko wood, a dense hardwood that holds up well outdoors and develops a quiet character over time. Wrapped around the form are either polyester or acrylic cords — 3mm in diameter — or flat 45mm belts, depending on the configuration you choose. Both are available in standard and recycled versions. The color options are wide: Grey, Sand, Brown, Tobacco, Olive, Blue, Orange, Sky, Stone, Clay, Mint, Teal, and Rose. You can go tone on tone, solid, or mix two contrasting colors. The combinations are genuinely varied, not just a few safe neutrals.

The narrow or wide slat options change the look considerably. One reads more refined and minimal, the other warmer and more textural. Both work.

The Handcrafted Detail

What makes Barrique stand out is the handcrafted quality of the wrapping. The cord and belt elements are not just decorative — they’re part of what holds the visual language together. It’s the kind of detail that reads as artisan without being rustic. And that balance is harder to get right than it sounds.

Placement and Scale

The dimensions — roughly 24¾ inches wide and just over 20 inches tall — make Barrique compact enough to work in multiples without overwhelming a space. A terrace, a garden corner, a poolside arrangement: it fits naturally in all of them. Because it comes in three sizes, you can create groupings that feel deliberate rather than mismatched. The color flexibility helps with that too.

It reads well against stone, wood decking, concrete, and tile. But it doesn’t need a specific backdrop to work. It holds its own.

Built for Outdoor Use

Iroko is chosen for a reason. It’s resilient, stable, and doesn’t require constant maintenance to stay in good shape outdoors. The polyester and acrylic cord and belt materials are similarly suited to outdoor conditions — they don’t fade or degrade quickly under sun and weather exposure. Barrique is designed to look good when it arrives and continue looking good without much intervention. That’s the practical side of what Roda does well.
