Horizontal screeen FILET 002

The Roda Filet screen divider, designed with UnPIZZO, blends textile tradition with contemporary outdoor design. Available in vertical or horizontal configurations, it uses woven polyester or acrylic belts and an Iroko and aluminum structure to define and filter outdoor spaces with understated visual impact.

A Divider That Actually Does Something

Most outdoor screens are purely decorative. The Filet collection by Roda takes a different approach. It defines space — drawing a line between a lounge area and a garden path, or between a terrace and the open landscape beyond — without closing anything off. The result feels more like a filter than a wall. And that distinction matters a lot in how a space breathes and flows.

Available in both vertical and horizontal orientations, Filet adapts to different spatial needs without requiring a redesign around it. At 75⅝ inches long and 48½ inches tall, it carries enough presence to do its job without dominating the space around it.

The Weave Is the Design

Filet was developed in collaboration with UnPIZZO, a studio with deep roots in textile tradition. The woven belt construction — running in either 25mm or 45mm widths — references that heritage directly. But it doesn’t feel nostalgic. It feels current. The pattern has a graphic quality that works as well in a modern garden as it does in a more traditional setting.

Belts come in polyester or acrylic, and the color range is wide. Grey, sand, brown, tobacco, olive, blue, orange, sky — and for those who prefer a more considered palette, recycled belt options include clay, mint, rose, stone, and teal. There’s enough range here to match an existing scheme or set a new direction entirely.

Built for the Outdoors

The structure is Iroko wood combined with powder-coated aluminum, finished in a smoke tone on the metal components and natural on the wood. Stainless steel feet, also powder coated, keep everything stable on uneven surfaces. This isn’t a piece that shifts or wobbles in wind. The materials are chosen for outdoor conditions — not just tolerant of them, but suited to them.

The connection kit is a practical detail worth noting. Multiple Filet modules can be aligned and joined precisely, which means a single panel can become a longer screen, a partial enclosure, or a modular layout across a large terrace. It scales without losing coherence.

Where It Works Best

Filet fits naturally in gardens, terraces, pool areas, and larger outdoor living spaces. But it works equally well in hospitality settings — a hotel garden, a restaurant terrace — where defining zones without building permanent walls is often exactly what’s needed. The slim 14⅛-inch depth means it occupies minimal floor space while still reading clearly in the environment.

Longevity Without Compromise

Roda builds for the long term, and Filet reflects that. The combination of Iroko, powder-coated aluminum, and stainless steel hardware is a considered choice — each material selected for durability in outdoor exposure. The acrylic and polyester belt options hold color well over time and resist the kind of wear that degrades lesser outdoor textiles. It’s a piece that earns its place over several seasons, not just one.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
