Lucerna Applique

Lucerna takes its name and its logic from the oil lamp, and Luca Nichetto designed the collection for Ethimo around a simple glass vessel that holds light. The applique is the wall-mounted member of that family.

At 15 x 15 x 15 cm it is deliberately small. This is not a light meant to illuminate a whole terrace; it is meant to mark a doorway, run along a wall at intervals, or give a low warm glow beside a seating area. Several of them do considerably more for an outdoor space than one bright fixture.

The body is glass, which means the light source is visible rather than hidden behind a diffuser — closer to the effect of a candle in a lantern than to conventional exterior lighting.

It sits alongside the Lucerna outdoor lamp, suspension lamp and lamp bracket, so a single visual language can run from the wall to the table to the pergola above.
