Cono Pergola

The Cono pergola by José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales for GANDIABLASCO measures Ø230 x 250 cm, built from powder-coated aluminium with alternating polypropylene webbing and rope. It includes a soft cushioned base and integrated, adjustable rechargeable lighting.

“The function of the Cono pergola is the same as that of the original Tipi, but it has a very different constructive design,” says José A. Gandía-Blasco Canales. “It is about creating a surprising and welcoming space to be inside.”

Cono takes its form from the tipis of nomadic tribes and translates it into GANDIABLASCO’s material language. A powder-coated aluminium structure is wrapped in an alternation of woven straps and rope — a combination of artisanal and industrial technique that produces a surface which filters light rather than blocking it. At Ø230 cm and 250 cm tall it defines a genuine room within a garden.

Inside, a soft cushion base makes it somewhere to actually sit rather than merely walk through. Integrated adjustable lighting runs on a rechargeable battery, so the piece needs no electrical installation and can be moved — or used indoors, which it is often specified for.

Cono belongs to the GANDIABLASCO Outdoor Spaces collection, the twenty-year body of work in which the brand has treated shade structures as architecture rather than accessories.
