Tama Coffee Table

Valerio Sommella designed Tama as a single continuous ceramic volume — no frame, no legs, no join between top and base. The result is a table that reads more like an object than a piece of furniture, which is exactly why it works so well among softer, more upholstered outdoor pieces.

Two sizes are offered and they behave quite differently. The Ø39 cm at 45 cm high is tall and narrow, a drinks table to pull beside an armchair. The Ø70 cm at 32 cm is broad and low, closer to a conventional coffee table and substantial enough to sit at the centre of a lounge group.

Three glazes are available: Lemongrass, a soft yellow-green; Truffle, a warm grey-brown; and Pottery, a deep terracotta red. All three have the depth and slight surface variation that comes with a real ceramic glaze rather than a paint finish.

Because the pieces are entirely ceramic they are genuinely weather-resistant and heavy enough to stay put in wind — practical qualities that a purely sculptural object would not normally offer.
