Two-seater sofa STRESA 102

The Stresa sofa by Roda, designed by Piero Lissoni, brings clean proportions and understated character to outdoor living. Built entirely from powder-coated aluminum with hydro-draining cushions, it sits at 17¾\” seat height and fits naturally across residential and contract settings.

A Design That Knows What It Is

Piero Lissoni designed the Stresa collection with a clear idea: balanced proportions, clean lines, nothing unnecessary. The sofa measures 70⅞\” long by 40⅛\” deep, with an arm height of 21⅝\” — dimensions that feel considered rather than arbitrary. The perforated backrest, detailed with small diamond cutouts, adds a layer of visual interest without trying too hard. It reads as a design detail, not a decoration. The slatted base works practically and visually. It lifts the piece slightly, gives it lightness, and makes space for the cushions to sit properly. The overall silhouette sits at 31¼\” high — low enough to feel relaxed, structured enough to hold its presence in a space.

Material Choices That Hold Up

The frame is powder-coated aluminum throughout. That means it’s light to move, resistant to the elements, and fully recyclable. The Smoke finish is the structural option across the range, and it works well — neutral without being flat. And for pieces in the collection that include a top surface, grès is the material of choice. It’s a dense, fired ceramic that handles sun, rain, and temperature shifts without complaint. It’s available in Sand, Mole, and Lead finishes, each sitting in easy contrast with the metal base.Wavy glass tops are also available in Fern, Navy, and Paprika for those who want something with a bit more color and texture. The cushions are hydro-draining, which matters more than it sounds — water moves through rather than sitting in the fill, so the sofa is ready to use again quickly after rain.

Comfort Without Compromise

The seat height without cushions is 11⅓\”. With cushions, it comes up to 17¾\” — a comfortable, relaxed position that encourages people to sit back rather than perch. The cushion covers come in a wide range of fabrics across multiple collections: Allegro, Bouquet, Dew, Eco, Fine, King, Loom, Medley, Oxford, Park, Point, Queen, Scala, Soft, and Shore. That range means the sofa can shift tone considerably depending on what’s chosen — from crisp and tailored to soft and textural.

Where It Works Best

Stresa was built with flexibility in mind. It fits a private terrace just as naturally as a hotel courtyard or a Mediterranean garden. The aluminum construction keeps it practical for contract environments where furniture takes more wear. But it doesn’t feel institutional — the proportions and detailing are residential in character.Roda designed the collection to sit across different contexts without needing to be adapted. It’s that kind of piece — one that belongs in a curated space but doesn’t demand one.

Built to Last Outdoors

Aluminum doesn’t rust. Grès doesn’t crack from cold or heat. The powder coating holds its finish through seasons of outdoor use. The Stresa sofa is engineered to stay outdoors year-round in most climates, and it shows in the material selection at every level. But beyond durability, it simply ages well — the palette and proportions don’t date quickly. It will look right for a long time.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
