Planter BARRIQUE 103
The Barrique planter by Roda blends natural Iroko wood with handwoven cord and belt detailing in a wide range of colors. Available in three sizes with narrow or wide slats, it brings an artisan, refined character to any outdoor space.
A Different Kind of Planter
The Barrique collection from Roda takes something functional and makes it worth looking at. Designed by UnPizzo, it treats the planter not as an afterthought but as a proper piece of outdoor furniture. Wood, cord, and belt work together here — structure and decoration becoming one thing, not two separate considerations.
Materials and Build
The frame is built from Iroko, a dense hardwood that holds up well outdoors and develops a quiet character over time. Wrapped around it are cords and belts in polyester or acrylic — 3mm cord or 45mm belt, depending on the configuration. Both are weather-resistant and available in standard or recycled versions. The slats come narrow or wide, which changes the whole feel of the piece. And the belts and twines add a layer of handcrafted detail that sets it apart from anything mass-produced.
Finish options are generous. The wood stays natural. The cord and belt come in a broad palette — Grey, Sand, Brown, Tobacco, Olive, Blue, Orange, Sky, and through the recycled range: Stone, Clay, Mint, Teal, and Rose. Solid color, tone on tone, or two contrasting colors. There’s real room to work with here.
Designed for Plants, Not Just Decoration
At 30¾ inches wide and just under 25 inches tall, Barrique is sized to hold a proper plant without feeling oversized on a terrace or in a garden corner. It’s functional first. But it doesn’t look purely utilitarian either — the combination of wood and woven textile gives it a presence that most planters simply don’t have.
Where It Works
Barrique suits outdoor spaces that are put together with some intention — a terrace, a courtyard, a garden that’s been thought through. It fits naturally alongside other pieces from Roda’s outdoor range, sharing the same design language without trying too hard to match. But it also works on its own, placed at an entrance or beside a seating area where something green is needed but the planter itself needs to carry some weight visually.
The color combinations make it adaptable. A neutral cord in Sand or Stone reads quietly. A contrast pairing in Teal and natural wood makes more of a statement. Either way, it doesn’t look out of place in a considered outdoor setting.
Built to Last Outside
Iroko is chosen for a reason — it’s a hardwood that handles outdoor conditions without demanding constant attention. The polyester and acrylic cord and belt are similarly suited to the elements, resisting UV and moisture without losing their appearance quickly. The recycled cord and belt options don’t compromise on durability either. Barrique is meant to stay outside, season after season, and still look like something worth keeping.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
