Llar Burner
The Llar burner by Borja García for GANDIABLASCO is a bioethanol outdoor fireplace measuring 95 x 20 x 40 cm, built from sandblasted stainless steel and powder-coated galvanized steel. Offered in a wide colour range including grey blue, bronze, cement grey, sand, anthracite, wine red and orange brown.
“We wanted to work with a product that could transpose concepts that belong inside the home, such as a meeting around the hearth, to an outdoor space,” says Borja García. Llar — Catalan for hearth — does exactly that.
It is a bioethanol fireplace, which means no flue, no gas line and no wood store. At 95 x 20 x 40 cm it is a low horizontal object rather than a fire pit, and the proportion is the point: García gave it “a purely architectural aesthetic, where the proportion and composition convey a certain clarity and presence typical of the modern movement.”
Construction is sandblasted stainless steel with powder-coated galvanized steel, and the colour range is unusually broad — grey blue, grey brown, white, bronze, cement grey, sand, anthracite, black, wine red and orange brown among others — so the burner can be matched to a scheme rather than defaulting to black.
More than an outdoor brazier, it is a designed object that happens to hold fire, and it turns a terrace into a place people gather after dark.
