Planter CORTICA 002
The Roda Cortica Planter is crafted entirely from natural brown cork — a material shaped by plant-based resins and steam-treated at high temperatures. Compact at 19⅝ inches in diameter and height, it brings honest materiality and quiet presence to any space.
A Shape That Does Not Try Too Hard
The Cortica Planter from Roda keeps things simple. It is a cylinder. Perfectly proportioned, 19⅝ inches wide and 19⅝ inches tall. There is no ornamentation, no structural drama. Just a clean, resolved form that holds its own in a room without asking for attention.
Cork, From the Inside Out
The entire structure is cork. Not cork-wrapped, not cork-finished — cork through and through. The material is composed of natural cork particles bound together by resins derived from the plant itself, then treated with high-temperature steam. No synthetic binders from outside the material. The process is about as honest as furniture gets.
The result is a warm, matte brown surface with the kind of natural texture that looks different depending on the light. And because the material is uniform all the way through, the stool does not have a veneer to chip or a coating to wear away.
Comfortable Enough
Cork has a natural give to it. It compresses slightly underfoot and underweight, which means the Cortica works as occasional seating without feeling harsh. It is not a primary chair. But as a side seat, a footrest, or a surface to perch on, it does the job well. The material also stays close to room temperature, which makes it more inviting than stone or metal alternatives of similar scale.
Where It Sits Best
This is an indoor piece. It works in living rooms, reading corners, home offices, and entryways. Place it next to a sofa as a side table. Use it as a plant stand. Pull it into the center of a minimal room and let it be the thing that grounds the space. Its neutral brown tone sits comfortably against natural linens, dark woods, plaster walls, or polished concrete floors.
It is small enough to move around easily and substantial enough to feel intentional wherever it lands. That flexibility is genuinely useful in a home.
Built to Last Without Much Effort
Cork is naturally resilient. It resists moisture, does not rot easily, and holds its shape over time when kept indoors. The Cortica does not require special maintenance or careful handling. It is a low-effort object that stays looking like itself for years. Roda built it to be used, not preserved.
For a piece this compact and this straightforward in its design, the longevity is notable. There are no joints to loosen, no upholstery to replace, no finish to refresh. It is just the material, doing what the material does.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
