The Planter stool doesn’t try too hard. Its form is simple — compact, block-like, grounded. And that’s precisely the point. The design steps back and lets the cork do the talking. At roughly 39 inches long and just under 20 inches in both depth and height, it sits close to the floor with a quiet confidence that works in a room without demanding attention.

Cork, Front and Back

The entire structure is cork. Not cork as a veneer or a surface detail — cork as the thing itself. It’s composed of natural cork particles bound together using resins derived from the plant, then treated with high-temperature water vapour. No synthetic fillers, no hidden frame beneath. What you see is what it’s made of.

Brown cork has a texture that’s hard to fake and easy to appreciate up close. It has warmth without being precious about it. Roda worked with the material in its most honest form, and the result feels considered without being overthought.

Comfort in a Solid Form

Cork has a natural give to it. It’s not soft in the way upholstered seating is soft, but it absorbs pressure and offers a subtle resilience underfoot — or under the body, depending on how the piece is used. As a seat, it holds its shape while still feeling more forgiving than stone or solid wood. It’s the kind of material that gets better the more time you spend with it.

This is an indoor piece, and it fits in well wherever the room has a little room to breathe. A reading corner, a bedroom with a minimal feel, a living space that leans into natural materials. The high-temperature vapour treatment used in production adds to that durability without introducing anything artificial into the material.
