Bliss Armchair

Designed by BOATTO MARTINO studio for Atmosphera, the Bliss armchair is the fullest expression of what the Bliss collection sets out to achieve in the outdoor lounge context. Where the Bliss chair brings the collection’s design language to the dining table and the Bliss chaise longue takes it to the poolside, the armchair plants it firmly in the outdoor living room — and does so with the kind of generous, deeply comfortable, architecturally composed presence that makes a terrace feel like a room worth spending the entire day in.

At L 96 cm × D 96 cm, the Bliss armchair is notably square in its footprint — a deliberate proportion that gives the piece its enveloping, almost embracing quality. The seat is deep enough to invite the body to settle fully rather than perch, the backrest tall enough to support the full length of the spine, and the overall volume sufficient to create the sense of being genuinely held by the chair rather than merely sitting in it. This is the physical experience that the collection’s name — Bliss — points toward, and the armchair delivers it more completely than any other piece in the range.

The gently curved backrest is the Bliss collection’s defining formal gesture, and in the armchair it reads with particular clarity. Softly arcing from side to side at a height that catches the upper back and shoulders, it introduces a warmth and approachability to the silhouette that purely rectilinear outdoor seating rarely achieves — the difference between a chair that asks you to adapt to it and one that quietly adapts to you. The natural teak armrests extend horizontally from the aluminium frame at either side, their warm grain and tactile surface providing a material contrast that is as compositionally considered as it is physically pleasurable — a resting place for the hands that speaks of care and craft in a way that metal alone cannot.

The powder-coated aluminium frame is available in two finishes: Gesso, a chalk-white that reads as cleanly luminous in the strong outdoor light of a Los Angeles terrace, and Olive Green, a considered earthy tone that connects the piece to garden and natural settings with quiet authority.
