Side table BERNARDO 354
The Bernardo side table by Roda, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, pairs a Simplon white stone base with a powder-coated stainless steel structure and a choice of gres or wavy glass top. Equally at home indoors or out, it works across a wide range of settings and styles.
A Design That Doesn’t Try Too Hard
Rodolfo Dordoni kept the Bernardo side table deliberately unfussy. The round top sits on a slender powder-coated stainless steel structure that rises from a solid stone base. It’s a clean, considered silhouette — nothing superfluous, nothing missing. The proportions feel right whether the table is standing next to a sofa or set out on a terrace.
The structure comes in three metal finishes: Smoke, Milk, and Rust. Each one shifts the mood of the piece without changing its character. Rust feels warm and grounded. Milk reads almost neutral. Smoke is a bit more dramatic. And that range of options is part of what makes Bernardo adaptable rather than just versatile.
Materials Built for Real Use
The base is Simplon white stone — dense, stable, and visually grounding. It anchors the table without making it feel heavy. The steel structure is powder-coated, which means it holds up well against the kind of wear that comes with daily use, both inside and outside.
For the top, there are two directions: gres in a Natural finish, or wavy glass in Fern, Navy, or Paprika. The wavy glass in particular adds something unexpected — a slight texture and depth that catches light differently depending on where the table sits. Both options are practical surfaces, not just decorative ones.
Size and Fit
Bernardo stands at 21¼ inches tall with a top diameter of 17¾ inches. It’s scaled to work beside seating — low enough to be useful, compact enough not to crowd a space. A side table at this size tends to disappear into a room in the best way, doing its job without drawing attention to itself.
Where It Works
Roda designed Bernardo to move between contexts without looking out of place. It fits naturally alongside teak outdoor furniture, but it also works next to an upholstered sofa or a lounge chair in a living room. The stone base and steel structure read well against wood, fabric, or metal — the finishes are neutral enough to mix, specific enough to feel intentional.
It suits residential settings, but the build quality and material choices also make it a practical option for hospitality environments — terraces, bar areas, restaurant lounges. Places where furniture takes more use and needs to hold up.
Built to Last
The combination of powder-coated stainless steel and Simplon white stone isn’t accidental. Both materials resist the conditions that typically wear furniture down — moisture, sun exposure, the general wear of outdoor or high-traffic use. But Bernardo doesn’t look like outdoor furniture in the utilitarian sense. It looks like a well-made object that happens to be resilient. That distinction matters when a piece is moving between indoor and outdoor spaces regularly.
