Three-seater sofa module PHILIA 310
The Philia outdoor sofa system by Roda, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, combines FSC-certified teak, Batyline support, and hydro-draining cushions into a modular, reclinable seating solution built for terraces and gardens. 110\” wide, refined, and deeply comfortable.
A Design That Does More Than Look Good
Rodolfo Dordoni designed Philia around a simple but smart idea. The perimeter frame serves double duty — it supports the backrests while also functioning as a tabletop surface between seating areas. It’s a clean solution that keeps the silhouette light and the layout flexible. The proportions are careful without being fussy, and the profiles feel harmonious whether you’re looking at the piece from across a terrace or sitting in it.
Materials Built for the Outdoors
The structure is built from FSC-certified teak — specifically the carabottino, a wooden grating traditionally used in yacht construction. It’s a detail that gives Philia a distinct character, something between nautical precision and garden ease. The feet are powder-coated stainless steel in a smoke finish, and the support system uses Batyline, a material chosen for its durability and breathability in outdoor conditions. The belts are available in a range of colors including grey, sand, brown, olive, blue, orange, and sky — so the configuration can be tailored without looking overly designed. The cushions are hydro-draining, which means water moves through rather than sitting on the surface. A practical detail that matters more than it might sound after the first rain.
Comfort That Adjusts to the Moment
The backrests and armrests are lightly padded and recline in three positions. And the armrests aren’t locked into one role — they can also work as a backrest or headrest depending on how you’re using the piece. It’s a straightforward kind of versatility, the sort that makes a furniture system feel genuinely considered rather than just modular for the sake of it. With soft outdoor cushions added, the seat height rises from about 7â…ž inches to 13¾ inches — low and relaxed, the way outdoor living furniture should sit.
Where It Belongs
Philia is sized for generous outdoor spaces. At 123¼ inches long and 45¼ inches deep, it fills a terrace or garden with presence but not weight. The visual language is calm enough to work alongside natural surroundings, and open enough to anchor a more designed exterior. It suits the kind of space where people actually spend time — not just for a photograph, but through long afternoons and evenings. The upholstery fabric options are broad, spanning collections like Allegro, Oxford, Duna, Riva, and Soft, among others. Enough range to match an existing palette or build one around the piece itself.
Built to Last Outside
Teak is one of the more honest choices for outdoor furniture. It weathers slowly, holds its structural integrity, and doesn’t require constant maintenance to stay in good condition. Combined with Batyline support and hydro-draining cushions, the Philia system is put together with materials that understand what outdoor use actually means. Roda built this collection for gardens and terraces that are lived in — and that shows in every material decision.

Nordic design inspires HAY's taste for clean lines, simple geometric shapes, and quality materials like wood, metal, and textiles. Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox.
