Candelo Outdoor Planter

Designed by Jamela Alawneh for Melaaura, the Candelo outdoor planter is a landscape element as much as a vessel, a tall, clean-edged cylinder whose vertically ribbed surface brings order, rhythm, and architectural presence to any outdoor or large interior setting. Where most planters rely on curves, gloss, or decorative detailing to announce themselves, Candelo makes its case through repetition and restraint: the vertical flutes catch and release light and shadow throughout the day, animating the surface without ever overcomplicating the form.

Alawneh’s approach to the Candelo is rooted in the belief that the best outdoor objects should support and reinforce a space rather than compete with it. The planter’s geometry is uncompromisingly simple, no lip, no taper, no extraneous detail, just a deep cylindrical drum with a clean edge and a generous internal cavity suited to upright planting: ferns, palms, ornamental grasses, small trees, or any plant whose vertical character complements the planter’s own. The tall format naturally draws the eye upward, making it particularly effective near architecture, fencing, or walls that benefit from a softening vertical counterpoint.

Available in three sizes, with the large format standing at an imposing 80 cm in both height and width and two finishes, crisp white and charcoal grey, Candelo adapts readily to a wide range of outdoor palettes and spatial contexts. The large size is equally at home framing an entrance, spacing along a pool deck, or punctuating a long garden wall. Smaller sizes work beautifully in clusters or layered height arrangements, creating compositions with rhythm and depth. Both finishes are chosen to pair naturally with the materials most associated with considered contemporary outdoor design: poured concrete, pale stone pavers, blackened steel, and natural timber.
